Artist Statement

Photography, for me, begins with observation. It is a way of looking beyond appearances to uncover the stories, relationships, and lived experiences that shape people, places, and communities. Working primarily in Bhutan, I use documentary photography to explore identity, culture, landscape, memory, and social change.

A self-taught photographer with over a decade of experience and an MA in Photography from the United Kingdom, I am drawn to the quiet moments that often go unnoticed. My work is grounded in trust, respect, and long-term engagement with the people and places I photograph.

I believe photography can do more than document; it can preserve cultural memory, foster understanding, and contribute to positive social impact. Inspired by the spirit of philanthropy and community service, I see photography as a tool to amplify voices, preserve stories, and support meaningful causes.

Through photo essays, documentary projects, collaborative storytelling, and photobooks, I aim to create a lasting visual archive that celebrates Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage, resilience, and evolving identity for future generations.
